Who's The MarMar? — Maple Languedoc
Languedoc Custom Electric · Debut: ~1988
The first hollowbody Paul Languedoc ever built. Maple top / padauk body. Trey's primary guitar from ~1988 through October 1996. Construction, pickup history, and the full "Sonic Maximizer" story documented.
I'm The MarMar — Spruce Languedoc
Languedoc Custom Electric · Debut: 1991
The second Languedoc guitar. Built as a backup and never used as Trey's primary — served as a backup or alternate tuning guitar through 2000.
Koa #1 Languedoc
Languedoc Hollowbody · Debut: 1996
The third Languedoc hollowbody guitar built for Trey. Entire body is koa. Debuted at Hampton Coliseum in October 1996 and became his primary guitar through the end of 2000.
Pre-Languedoc Guitars
Various · Debut: 1983
Pre-Languedoc guitars including a Fender Stratocaster and other instruments from Trey's earliest playing years at The Barn and UVM.

Mesa Boogie Mark III
Amp Head · Debut: 1985
The long head version that defined Trey's early tone. Retired from primary use after NYE 1994, replaced by the CAE SE 3+ and Groove Tubes amp era in 1995.
CAE SE 3+ Preamp
Rack Preamp · Debut: 1995
Custom Audio Electronics three-channel preamp. Replaced the Mesa Boogie in early 1995. Paired with the Groove Tubes Dual 75 power amp. The backbone of the mid-90s era rack sound.
Fender Deluxe Reverb
Combo Amp · Debut: Fall 1997
Modified Fender Deluxe Reverb used as Trey's primary amp from Fall 1997 through the end of 2000. 16 documented circuit modifications by Bill Carruth and Brian Brown.
Groove Tubes Dual 75
Rack Power Amp · Debut: 1995
Stereo tube power amplifier paired with the CAE SE 3+ preamp. Two channels driving the Languedoc cabinets in stereo.

Custom Speaker Cabs · Debut: 1991
Custom-built cabinets by Paul Languedoc. Used as a stereo pair from 1991. Retired after the Island Tour in April 1998, replaced with standard cabs.

The rack delay at the heart of Trey's signature Digital Delay Loop jams. Arrived with the Bradshaw system in April 1994.
Electro-Harmonix Small Stone
Phase Shifter · Debut: 1994
Classic EHX phase shifter integrated into the Bradshaw rack in 1994. The phased tone on countless 1994–95 recordings.
DigiTech Whammy II
Pitch Shifter · Debut: 1994
Floor-based pitch shifter used for the iconic dive-bomb effects and harmonising throughout Trey's 1.0 playing. A fixture from 1994 through the final shows.
DOD 680 Chorus/Flanger
Chorus/Flanger · Debut: 1994
Visible in the Mosier bluegrass footage from November 1994. A DOD rack unit providing chorus and flanging in the Bradshaw system.
Black Cat Vibe
Uni-Vibe · Debut: 1995
Custom uni-vibe-style effect that debuted in 1995. Provides the swirling, chorus-vibrato effect heard prominently in 1995–96 recordings.
Alesis Microverb
Reverb · Debut: 1980s
The Alesis Microverb was a constant in Trey's rig, with the number of units varying over time — from a single unit, up to three, and back down to one.
Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer
Overdrive · Debut: 1980s
The classic Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer, used for midrange push and saturation throughout Trey's rig.
Ibanez TS10 Tube Screamer
Overdrive · Debut: 1980s
The TS10 variant of the Tube Screamer, used alongside or in rotation with the TS9 in Trey's rig.
Ross Compressor
Compressor · Debut: 1980s
The vintage Ross Compressor used in Trey's signal chain for sustain and dynamic control.

MTI rack rotary simulator debuting in 1995. Replaced in 1996 by the Motion Sound Pro 3.
Motion Sound Pro 3
Rotary Simulator · Debut: October 1996
Replaced the MTI Rotophaser in the 1996 consolidated rack. A higher-fidelity rotary simulation through 1996 and into 1997.
Goff Professional Leslie 925
Rotary Cabinet · Debut: June 1997
A compact Leslie 925 unit used extensively through 1997–1999. Upgraded to a full-size Leslie 122 in September 2000.
Leslie 122
Rotary Cabinet · Debut: September 2000
Full-size vintage Leslie 122 that replaced the 925 in September 2000. Only used for the final months of Phish 1.0, including the last show at Shoreline.

Boomerang Phrase Sampler
Looper · Debut: Fall 1998
Debuted in Fall 1998, the Boomerang replaced the DM2000-based DDL loops with a dedicated phrase sampler. A second unit was added in 1999 for the Yamaha AN1x.

Virtual analog synthesizer added to Trey's rig in 1999. Ran through its own Boomerang and dedicated amp path. The source of the "laser tone" heard throughout 1999.

Custom Audio Electronics MIDI loop-switching system, the architectural backbone of the rack rig from April 1994 through the final shows. Allowed clean switching between all effects.
CAE RS-10 MIDI Foot Controller
MIDI Foot Controller · Debut: 1994
Custom Audio Electronics 10-button MIDI floor controller. Trey's primary interface for switching presets and activating effects from the stage floor.
Custom CAE System Interface
Custom 1U Rack Unit · Debut: 1994
A custom CAE pass-through 1U rack unit designed to easily connect external cables to the rack system, while also providing power to the RS-10 foot controller.
